Emir, Kwara Speaker, others react to Governor Abdulrazaq father’s death

The Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has commiserated with the entire Nigerians, Kwarans and the people of Ilorin Emirate over the death of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s father, Alhaji A.G.F. Abdulrazaq.

In a condolence message by his spokesman, Abdul Azeez Arowona in Ilorin on Saturday, the Emir described late Abdulrazaq “as an accomplished legal icon.”

He said, “his record as the first senior advocate of Nigeria, SAN, in the Northern region, put Ilorin community on the global map as a city with people of high substance and values.”

Similarly, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, in his own personal message, described the late legal icon who was the first finance commissioner, health, and social welfare for the state from 1967-1972 as a loss to Kwarans and Nigerians at large.

“Baba was also reputed for establishing the first private secondary school in Ilorin,” aside being ” The first lawyer in northern Nigeria, who served Nigeria as a special member of the assembly from 1960-1962, following the country’s independence.”

He was also the Nigerian ambassador to the Republic of Ivory Coast between 1962-1964, and later member of federal parliament from 1964-1966 as Federal Minister for Transport, a statement by his media aide stated.

The Ilorin Emirate for Unity and Development Initiative, also expressed grief over the death of the former ambassador, saying “he lived an impactive and selfless life of service to humanity.”

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Tunde Razaq, described the late statesman as an accomplished man, “whose products of human development efforts are currently found in various leadership positions in the state and the country at large.”
