With arms and charms in hand, the robbers moved to snatch a motorcycle from the owner on Easter Sunday, 21st April 2019, in Ogun state, sadly the charms failed and they were arrested by the police. One of the robbers has been identified as Seun Adewole.
This came as a result of a distress call made from Adiyan community in Agbado area of the state as the 2 armed men were about to snatch a motorcycle from its owner. CSP Omonijo Olatunji, DPO Agbado Division, on getting the tip mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene of the crime where one of the robbers was arrested while his accomplice escaped through the nearby bush. Their charms were unable to save and protect them as Adewole was apprehended.
Details on the foiled operation and how the criminals were apprehended were disclosed DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi of the Ogun State Police who said that one locally made pistol, one dagger and assorted charms which they used for the operation were recovered from the suspect, Adewole.
He gave the name of his fleeing colleague as Ojo Iberu who is now at large. The suspect equally confessed that they are members of Aye cult group and that they go into robbery whenever they run out of cash. Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) for discreet investigation.
He equally directed that the suspect that escaped be hunted and brought to justice within the shortest possible time. Oyeyemi said that the suspect will be charged to Court after the conclusion of the investigation.
