The governor’s spokesman disclosed that, during the last PDP administration in the state, the government purchased bonds and invested the money in failed projects.
In his statement below “The party (PDP) caused most of the problems we are facing.
“They took what they called bonds and they were expending it on white elephants.
“We didn’t collect N30bn in bailout. That is a lie. We took N20bn.
“Those who accessed what we needed to pay salaries and pensions projected N50.8bn, which was approved by Mr. President.
“From the N50.8bn, we accessed only N20bn, remaining N30.8bn. That is the reason why we still owe salaries.”
Meanwhile a member of the House of Representatives, Sunday Karimi, has pointed accusing finger at the governor for diverting bailout funds meant for the payment of salaries.
In other news the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that it will emerge winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kogi state and save the state by putting up a people oriented government in the state.
The party took the decision at the end of a crucial meeting of Kogi PDP critical stakeholders at its National Secretariat, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Ologbondiyan stated that the party “winning streaks in the just concluded governorship elections in Bauchi, Imo, Rivers, Adamawa, Bauchi, Osun among other states will be reenacted in the forthcoming Kogi governorship election.”
He revealed that the opposition party has the support of the good people of Kogi state, who according to him are “now looking up to it to rescue the state from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Governor Yahaya Bello.”

A statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP’s National spokesman, said leaders resolved to “forego all personal ambitions and work together for the interest of the party and the Kogi people ahead of the election.”
Ologbondiyan said that PDP’s “winning streaks in the just
concluded governorship elections in Bauchi, Imo, Rivers, Adamawa, Bauchi, Osun among other states will be reenacted in the forthcoming Kogi governorship election.”
He stated that PDP has the support of the people of Kogi state, who are “now looking up to it to rescue the state from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Governor Yahaya Bello.”
He disclosed that “As we all know, our people have gone through pains, pangs, acute poverty, hunger, dehumanization, brutalization, job losses, untimely deaths, suicide and all sorts of anguish as a result of the misrule of
the incumbent APC government. The people of Kogi state are therefore looking up to the PDP for a rescue and we cannot afford to fail them. We must therefore not allow anything to demoralize us as the winning streaks, which our party displayed in Imo, Adamawa, Bauchi, Osun among others, will be repeated in Kogi state by the grace of Almighty God.
“In this race, we must also bear in mind that we have the support of the people. Kogi state has always been home to the PDP not withstanding the temporary setback of the APC. We must therefore prepare ourselves, stand with the people and salvage our dear state from the pangs of misrule.
