A woman has walked away unhurt after a turtle was sent crashing through her windscreen as she drove at 120km/h on a Florida road.
Miraculously the turtle also survived the high speed encounter on the I-4 at Deltona, 48km north of Orlando.
Nicole Bjanes was driving on the highway when the car in front of her hit the turtle, sending the animal flying through her windscreen.
It hit the passenger seat and then landed on her dashboard, ABC News reported.
"As soon as it hit the windshield I was a little freaked out and kind of hysterical at what had just happened," she said.
"I immediately got off the road and got off to the left and got off the road looked over and realised it was in fact a turtle. I got out of the car to kind of assess what had been going on and realised I had in fact been hit by something."
Another motorist pulled off and called the emergency services. She was taken to hospital but was not detained.
"The turtle had a very hard shell. The only thing is the tail, that was split a little bit."
Otherwise the turtle appeared to be none the worse for the encounter. Police put it into a pond by the side of the road and it swam away.
