All Political Appointees In Kaduna State Finally Resign After Direction From El-Rufai

According to information , reports have it that, all the political appointees under the administration of Gov. El-rufai In Kaduna State have just tendered their resignations letter to the heads of their various MDAS.

This was as they seeked to comply with a directive by the executive governor of the state.

Recall that the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had as at last month, directed all his political appointees to resign by April 30.

The directive was contained in a statement which was made available to journalists by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan.

The governor stated that the measure was meant to allow him to constitute his team for his second term.

El-Rufai however exempted certain categories of appointees from the directive.

Those that were excluded from the directive, according the governor, are full-time commissioners of executive bodies who retain their tenured appointments in agencies such as the Fiscal Responsibility Commission; Civil Service Commission; Judicial Service Commission; Assembly Service Commission; State Independent Electoral Commission, Peace Commission, Public Procurement Authority as well as Water Regulatory Authority.

Others excluded from resigning, the statement added, are the new Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Muhammad Saidu; the new Accountant-General; Principal Private Secretary; Special Adviser on Intergovernmental Relations; Managing Director, Kaduna Markets Development Company; Managing Director, Kaduna Investment and Finance Company, and “any other political appointees sworn in or appointed to their current roles within the last six months.”

Those directed to resign include, “all commissioners in the State Executive Council; all Permanent Secretaries; Special Advisers; Directors-General; Executive Secretaries; Managing Directors; General Managers and other heads of agencies; Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor, other than the Kashim Ibrahim Fellows.”

The statement read partly, “As he commences selecting his team for his second term in office, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has directed all political appointees to submit letters of resignation by April 30, 2019.

“The governor will exercise his constitutional prerogative to decide on re-appointments while giving the Kaduna State Ministry of Finance adequate time to compute severance payments and reconcile any liabilities.

It was learnt that, Gov. El-rufai gave the directive to enable him properly hand over to the incoming administration of which his first tenure ends by May 29th.
