Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now excitedly awaiting the birth of their royal baby, with a due date forecast for as soon as the end of this month. The Duke of Sussex has quickly gained a happy family of his own since meeting Meghan in 2016, however a royal commentator claims that he has lost his “fun side”, and his “double act” with his brother Prince William. Podcast “Pod Save the Queen” is hosted by Ann Gripper and features Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers. In this week's episode, listeners heard from body language expert Judi James.
Ms Gripper said: “Some of the royal correspondents, people who have been on the royal circuit for a long time, they’ve noticed a change in Harry.
“He used to be the joker [and] had a lot of fun, but they feel like he’s changed a bit and is less inclined to get involved.”
She asked Ms James: “How have you seen Harry change?”
She replied: “Harry’s body language has changed a lot since he got married.
“We kind of saw the old, fun Harry for the last time at Invictus Games where he and Meghan came flying out in ripped jeans.
“He was bursting with pride but also being quite funny, his usual royal joker routine.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made one of their first public outings together after they had confirmed they were in a relationship at the September 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
Ms James continued: “I think after that, he’s taken himself a lot more seriously.
“You can understand it really because up until then he’d very much had the role of still being Diana’s son and the younger brother.
“Then very quickly he achieved the role of husband and now father-to-be.
“Either that, or he thinks that what Meghan loves about him is this rather manly, grown-up, sophisticated alpha.
“But you’re absolutely right, we’ve lost that naughty, fun side to him.”
Ms James continued: “He has looked very anxious, more so as the pregnancy has got towards the end, which is quite natural.
“He’s also lost that double act with his brother.”
She explained: “He had a lot of fun with [William and Kate], making them laugh.
“I think he sees his role now, on the world stage, as an ambassador, someone who’s going to go around doing good work and taking life a bit more seriously.
“So, he has undeniably changed.”
Ms James also spoke about Kate Middleton and the changes she has seen in the Duchess of Cambridge since Meghan joined the Royal Family.
She said: “I noticed recently her confidence levels do seem to be increasing.
“She was the one that wasn’t royal that married into the Royal Family and now Meghan’s done the same thing and Meghan is the newbie.
“I think that’s perhaps elevated Kate’s confidence levels a bit.”
