US President Donald Trump has renewed a Twitter feud with Senator Jeff Flake, suggesting his political career is "toast" after the Arizona Republican was caught on an open microphone criticizing the president and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
In candid remarks following a town hall meeting in Mesa on Friday, Flake said the Republican Party could be “toast” if it becomes synonymous with President Trump.
Flake made the remarks while talking to the mayor of the Phoenix suburb of Mesa offstage, apparently unaware that the microphone attached to his lapel was still on when he said, "[If we] become the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast."
Trump fired back on Sunday afternoon, tweeting that the Arizona senator "is unelectable."

The latest dust-up between the president and Flake comes as Republican leaders are trying to muster every vote they can to pass the GOP’s tax plan.
Flake's office responded to Trump's assertion that he would vote against the Republican tax bill.
"Senator Flake is still reviewing the tax reform bill on its merits," his spokesman, Jason Samuels, told CNN. "How he votes on it will have nothing to do with the president."
Flake announced in October that he would not seek reelection to his Senate seat in 2018. He has rebuked President Trump for his “reckless, outrageous, and undignified behavior.”
Republicans are already worried about how the 2018 midterm election would shape up as the party is facing a growing list of controversies, including sexual misconduct allegations against Moore.
So far, nine women have come forward accusing the Republican hopeful of sexual harassment or abuse.
After keeping silent for about a week, Trump said last week that Moore should leave the race if the allegations against him are true.
Meanwhile, the scandal has dredged up sexual misconduct allegations made last year against Trump by more than a dozen women.
