Turkish police have opened fire on a motorcycle after it refused to stop at a checkpoint at Istanbul's main Ataturk Airport.
One of the motorcycle riders was injured and apprehended in the early Sunday indecent while the other was detained after a brief chase by the police.
No members of the police or civilians were injured in the incident, but vehicle traffic was locked down to and from the airport for a short period. Flights schedules were also not affected.
Separate reports said that one of the gunman managed to breach the airports main entrance but was apprehended after exchanging fire with airport security.
Forensic police work the explosion site at Ataturk airport on June 28, 2016 in Istanbul after two explosions followed by gunfire hit Turkey's biggest airport, killing at least 41 people and injured many more.
In June, at least 41 people were killed and some 240 more injured in a Daesh attack at the airport.
Turkey has faced a string of terrorist attacks over the past year, including several in Istanbul, as it confronts threats from both Daesh and Kurdish militants.
On Friday, at least 11 people were killed after a blast hit the center of Turkey’s southeastern city of Diyarbakir, which has witnessed tensions between Ankara’s forces and Kurdish militants.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim blamed the incident on militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for the attack, while adding that a suspected militant was also killed in the incident. Tensions have been running high in Turkey’s Kurdish-dominated southeast since a ceasefire declared by the PKK collapsed in 2015 in the wake of Ankara’s military operations against the Kurdish group’s positions both inside the country as well as in northern Iraq.
