Police in Louisiana say 3-year-old twins have died after being found unresponsive in a pickup truck outside their home.
The twins' mother contacted neighbours on Saturday (US time) to say she was looking for her children. They were found in the truck outside their home in Bossier City, and emergency workers were called.
Autopsies on the twins, identified as Oliver and Aria Orr, have revealed their deaths were heat-related, a police spokesperson told People.
"Our investigation will focus on how the kids ended up in the pickup truck, and whether it was due to someone's actions or was accidental," said Bossier City Public Information Officer Mark Natale.
No criminal charges have been filed against the children's mother or their father, Travis Orr, who works as a deputy with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office.
"We are saddened by the tragic loss suffered by the Orr family, and our hearts are heavy," Whittington wrote. "This is a very difficult time, but it's even more so, as they are a part of our Bossier Sheriff's Office family. The twins' parents had lived in the neighbourhood for nine years. Neighbour Rhonda Matthews told the Shreveport Times, "They were wonderful, happy kids," adding, "They are good people, and they were good parents."
