A woman who regularly complained of feeling ill at work and noticed a peculiar taste in her drinks had allegedly being poisoned by a co-worker for months.
Police arrested a 33-year-old man on Thursday in Maroubra, in Sydney's east, after the woman told officers of her suspicions.
The pair worked together in a Sydney pharmacy and while they had never been in a relationship, the man was "infatuated' with the 26-year-old.
Police viewed CCTV footage, which they say allegedly shows the woman's colleague pouring a liquid substance into her drink. The investigation was sparked on Wednesday when she reported suspicions that a colleague had placed drugs in her drinks.
Police said the assistant pharmacist noticed her drink tasted "bitter" on a number of occasions while at work.
The pair are said to have met at a local church with the man subsequently offering her a job at the pharmacy
The man was charged with using poison to injure or cause distress or pain, and tampering with evidence and will appear at a Sydney court on 24 May.
