US Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton and presumptive Republican challenger Donald Trump clash yet again over each other’s capability to preside over the United States.
In an interview with CNN, Clinton called Trump a “threat” whose “dangerous” positions make him unfit for US presidency.
Clinton also described Trump as “divisive and unmoored.”
She particularly blasted the New York real estate tycoon for his proposal to prevent Muslims from entering the US.
Clinton said the idea is provocative and sends a message of disrespect to Muslim nations.
Trump on Thursday was swift to hit back in a statement, saying Clinton’s stance on the Muslim ban shows she is not qualified to be president.
He also slammed her as “unqualified,” questioning her record as the former secretary of state.
The latest round of mudslinging in the US presidential race comes as anti-Trump protests continue in the country.
Demonstrators, among them Muslims, held rallies outside the venue of a fundraiser hosted by Trump in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on Thursday. They called the GOP candidate a racist and bigot.
Meanwhile, an opinion poll by Fox News shows more voters (49%) believe Clinton is more corrupt than Trump (37%).
This year’s presidential race in the US has been marked by scandals, mudslinging and onstage vulgarity, where rivals have time and again seized opportunities to blacken their opponents and push them down the gutter.
Back in March, US Secretary of State John Kerry censured the chaos in America’s presidential campaign, criticizing it as “an embarrassment to our country.”
