A Kiwi has been the victim of an unprovoked street attack in the United Kingdom city of Derby, police say.
The Derby Telegraph reported the 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with swelling to his face and arms. He was in the city, 70 kilometres north of Birmingham, on a six-month worth placement.
The alleged attack by two men and a woman took place about 1.40am on Wednesday (12.40pm Wednesday NZT) in Ceasar St.
A 26-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth had been arrested on suspicion of assault, questioned and bailed pending further inquiries, police said.
The man's boss told the Telegraph the man had only been in Derby two months.
"I just want people to be aware that something like this has taken place in this part of Derby and to be wary."
