Billionaire designers Dolce and Gabbana are gay men who used to be in a
relationship. But despite being gay, they said they believe that 'the
only family is the traditional one' which includes a father, mother and
children...and not a man, another man and their children. They said IVF
babies are “synthetic”. Ouch! This made Elton John, who has two children
with David Furnish, angry and he called for a boycott of the Italian
fashion house.
"I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”. Ricky Martin and other gay activists also slammed the designers who have refused to back down. Read full story after the cut

Dolce and Gabbana have hit back at Sir Elton John after he called for a boycott of their fashion line.
The designers have refused to back down in the IVF row where they claimed "the only family is the traditional one".
Sir Elton ripped into Dolce and Gabbana after the designers branded IVF babies “synthetic”.
The furious songwriter, who has two children with husband David Furnish, called for a boycott of the Italian fashion house over the astonishing attack.
But businessman Gabbana has been busy promoting his view, posting an Instagram photo of a mother embracing her children alongside the hashtags #dgmamma’ and ‘#dgfamily.
He has also now posted: “This is respect for a different opinion? #boycotteltonjohn.
“It is simply arrogant not to tolerate those who think like him (Sir Elton) poor thing. We live in a democratic country and respect the ideas of others.”
Other celebs and thousands of fans backed Sir Elton's call to snub the designer clothing firm.
Sir Elton, father to four-year-old Zachary and Elijah, two, from a surrogate mother: “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’?
“And shame on you for wagging you judgemental little fingers at IVF… a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.
“Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions.
“I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”
Singer Courtney Love led the chorus of anger from the world of showbiz against the designers, who are both gay.
She posted: “I just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana items and want to burn them. I’m just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&GRicky Martin added: “Dolce and Gabbana your voices are too powerful to be spreading so much h8. Wake up, its 2015.”
Comedian Matt Lucas said: “Just read Dolce and Gabbana’s weird, bigoted comments about raising kids. Ugh, those guys are so creepy.”
And model Chloe Price wrote: “Thank you Elton for standing up for IVF babies. I’ve heard nasty things said about us but this is crazy #BoycottDolceGabbana.”
President of Italian campaign group Arcigay, Flavio Romani, said of the designers’ comments: “Their position is personal and it contradicts the global movement for adoption and gay rights.
"Gay people have the right to be considered equal to others, in bringing up a child.”
Ruth Hunt, of equality group Stonewall, added: “We strongly dispute the comments made by Dolce and Gabbana.
"Being a good parent has nothing to do with sexual orientation or whether a child has two mums or two dads. The important thing is a loving family, whatever it’s make up.”
The family is the theme of D&G’s latest shows, with fans asked to send in portraits for their website under the headline: “The Family is Our Point of Reference.”
And the pair dedicated their entire show at Milan Fashion Week this month to motherhood, naming it “Viva la mamma” (the mother lives).
A number of models hit the runway with their children and babies as Mama by the Spice Girls was played on the PA system.
