Jesus had been attempting to get away from the multitude for a time of refreshment, prayer, and preparation for more teaching. Unfortunately each time He withdrew to a city, the people followed Him. A gentile woman came up with a desperate request concerning her daughter. She came to seek for help as no human help can rescue her daughter possessed by demons. She knew Jesus was her only hope for her daughter’s cure. She came with an attitude different from that of others. However, despite Jesus’ initial response which seems discouraging, she held on to Him and cried the more. She knew what she wanted and that she was in the correct place. And in the end, she finally got what she wanted from the Lord Jesus Christ because her daughter was healed and freed.
The church may be plunged with many numerous problems today such as tribalism, immorality, favoritism, corruption, heresies, etc. which has defiled human intervention. A firm stand on Jesus Christ will move us forward. A cry to Him will not only secure solutions but progress as well. God is able to heal the church and open the gates for eventual mission work to the ‘gentiles’ in our country.
